Join us for Lincoln at the Library—Lincoln Postmortem: Abraham Lincoln’s Cranial Autopsy and the Mystery of his Illustrious Brain, presented by Lee Eutsey on Wednesday, April 16, at 2 p.m. ET. At noon on April 15, 1865, Army surgeons performed a cranial autopsy on the slain President Abraham Lincoln in a private White House bedroom. They extracted the assassin’s lead bullet from his martyred brain, yet the ultimate fate of Lincoln’s autopsied brain remains an enduring mystery—one that has gone unanswered for more than a century and a half.
